What’s the difference between Live dates and Contract dates?

We get asked this quite often. There are two sets of dates on a contract: Contract Start and End Date and Live Start and End Date.

To understand the difference, it is important to remember that a contract doesn’t always begin on the Contract Start Date. A contract can be delayed for many reasons, for example due to an objection. The Contract Dates are the proposed start and end dates whereas the Live Dates are the actual dates that the contract/meter went live.
